It was so fun and easy to make! I may have to start making a bunch now for Christmas presents!

Ribbon Tied Flip-Flops Tutorial

I've been wanting to post another tutorial and I recently I made a pair of these ribbon tied flip flops.
Photobucket
They are just adorable and super easy to make so I thought I would make another pair and take pics along the way to share with you all!
So here's what you need:
Flip Flops
 Photobucket
Ribbon strips (mine are 5" long)
Photobucket
Make sure you heat seal the edges of your ribbon for a professional look. Photobucket
*Optional* yarn, black marker, strong adhesive (glue)
Notice that the thong of these is pink. I wanted black and red and I loved the zebra print.
Here's what you do:
Tie a ribbon to the post of the thong then start tying the strips across the top. You can use a pattern or just do it randomly. Experiment with different widths of ribbon. (I used 3/8" sheer, patterned and solids) You'll need a lot of strips but the amount depends on how thick/fluffy you want the shoe!
 Photobucket Photobucket
As you tie on the strips, push them tight together. (use your judgement on what looks good) Once you get to the edges of the shoe, try it on and make sure the ribbons don't drag the ground.
Photobucket
I finished tying all the ribbons and still had that pink showing on either side so I got some black yarn and started wrapping the sides until I reached the sole of the shoe. I use a black Sharpie to color the edges a bit so there wouldn't be any pink showing.

I took 3/8" ribbon and ran a strip along the edge of the shoe with an industrial strength adhesive to tie it all together. Aren't they too cute!!!
 Photobucket
This is the first pair I made:
(even easier since the thong was black and I didn't have to hide any edges!)
Photobucket
The possibilities and color combos are endless. Use thick and narrow ribbons together for a unique look. Upcycle an old T-shirt by cutting into strips and tying on! I can't wait to see what you all think and I hope you will try this quick and easy project! (Let me know if you make some, I'd love to see photos!)

New Items at Etsy Shop Soon...

I have a new batch of bows/headbands/accessories I've been working on and hope to get them uploaded to the Etsy shop within the next few weeks. Just need to take lots of pics! My Doodle's B-day is a little over a week away and I've finally finished getting everything together... Now to scrub the apartment from ceiling to floor!!! (Yes, I'm a neat freak and OCD about everything being "in it's right place"...) I keep a clean house and I'm proud of it!!!

Anyhow, stay tuned for new items comming soon and insight on planning my soon to be 2 year old's Birthday party! Until then...
