We're Home...

So, we made it back with no issues. We rode through a few thunderstorms on the way but the rain washed all the salt off the van! We got back home and unpacked and now I'm washing sand out of clothes and tending to sunburns : ) We had such a great time and really enjoyed taking Doodle to the beach for the first time. It was an adventure with a 22mth old in tow but we have memories that will last a lifetime. I took over 200 pictures and can't wait to decide which ones to print for the scrapbook. I'm glad to be home but it was sad to leave. I guess it will be nice to get back to the normal day to day I'm used to.

We must have beat the rain here because it just started storming like crazy. Well, The hubby is having video game withdraws and I'm ready for a nap. (I can't wait to sleep in my own bed!)
Until next time,

Beach Trip... Day 4

PhotobucketCome on Monday! I'm trying to be patient but if it tells you anything... I've made 15 headbands, crocheted a bunch of flowers, made Doodle 3 dresses and a skirt, made myself a skirt and posted a few new items to Etsy. I've also started packing a bit and just started a new crochet project. I have to keep myself busy or I'll go crazy waiting for BEACH DAY.

Doodle is teething and was running a slight fever yesterday and today. All she wanted to do was lay around. We watched TV and I painted her toenails for the first time. She seemed to be feeling much better this evening before she went to bed. I hope she will continue to feel ok since we're going to see my parents tomorrow. I'm excited because I always enjoy spending time with them plus the little one loves it there. What child wouldn't love a room full of toys and a sandbox and swing outside!

Well, I'm off to bed. Gonna work on my crochet project and watch some Law & Order.
Until next time,

Tutorial for Notebook flowers

I'm calling these "notebook flowers" for lack of a better name. You know those spiral bound notebooks and calanders with really thick pleather-ish covers? I was at the In-Laws today to do some cleaning and my MIL gave me one of those thick leather covers. I wanted to make something fun out of it and came up with this simple idea for a cute accessory!

You'll need:
Flower Template
Thick leather/plastic cover from notebook
Sissors
Metallic sharpie or paint pen
Two small brads
Two small silk flowers
Nail (or something else to poke holes in the center)
Hammer (to hammer a nail through the center of the material)

Here are the supplies:
Photobucket

I printed and cut out a flower from the Flower Template then used it to draw onto the cover:

Cut out the flower from the cover and sharpen up the edges with the marker:

Poke holes in the center of two flowers and stack them together. Use the brads to secure the flowers together. (I used the hammer to flatten the brad ends to make sure it was tight!):

Then draw a pattern you like on each flower with the metallic pen:

Now you can attach them to anything you'd like with a little glue and some imagination! I think I might make matching headbands for my daughter and I... What do you think?

What a great day!

My parents came over for a while. We had breakfast then went shopping. They got the little one some floaties and sunscreen for our upcomming beach trip! I got an AWESOME bathing suit and haven't felt this great in so little for a LONG time! (lol) Then got home and discovered I had a new Etsy order (I'm up to 9 now!) and had a 5 star review on my Facebook fan page! The hubby works late tonight but is off tomorrow and Monday and I'm happy to spend some time with him since he's only had 4 days off in the last month!

I'm working on crocheting a beach bag and am just about done with it! I'll have to post pics of the completed project but here's the work in progress:
Photobucket
I still have to finish the trim at the top and make handles but I love the way it's turning out!

I've been lounging on the couch for a while crocheting and Doodle is being soooo good! It has been such a good day and I am in a great mood! I just love days like today!

I hope you all are enjoying your Saturday as much as I am and I can't wait to see what's in store for next week! (I do hope it will go by fast since I'm so anxious for our family vacation)

Take care everyone!

Mini Interview with PrettyMuchDana

Dana from prettymuchdana recently asked me to do a mini interview with her. I was so pleased that she wanted to get to know a little more about me and she offered to post some of her favorites from my Etsy shop. It would appear that Dana and I have some similar interests and I hope to soon do a mini interview of her as well! She is a very kind person and makes a lot wonderful items herself. She has two Etsy shops, one for art and one for trinkets! Please go check out the interview because she is giving away a beautiful pair of earrings! You can enter to win HERE!
Thank you Dana for being so wonderful and I can't wait to work with you again soon!

Super Easy Wreath Tutorial

My Mom loves wreaths and has one for every season. She has been bugging me lately to make her a special one so I decided, what better time than Mother's Day! I love to find things to craft with at the Dollar Store and spent all of $7 on supplies for this project. It is so easy and only requires a little time and the knowledge of how to tie a knot!
Here we go:
5 rolls of ribbon in coordinating colors
Photobucket
Cut 12" strips and heat seal the ends. (I needed about 80 strips for mine but you may need more or less depending on the size of your wreath and the width of the ribbon)
Photobucket
You'll also need a wreath form (I used a 9" natural vine wreath but you could use a wire form or even styrofoam) Start tying the ribbon to the wreath in any pattern you like.
Photobucket
See how I just used a double knot?
Photobucket
Once it's completed, it will look similar to this:
Photobucket
Embellish with anything you like. (I had these sheer butterflies and buttons lying around)
Photobucket
I love the way it looks! The colors compliment each other and I just know my Mom will love it!
Let me know what you think about the tutorial and if you have any questions let me know!
